With 15 years of yoga practice, I have dedicated myself to a journey of movement, mindfulness, and transformation. My education in Vinyasa, as well as pre- and postnatal yoga, has deepened my understanding of how yoga supports the body through different life stages. As a certified teacher and lifelong student, I am passionate about sharing the power of yoga to cultivate strength, balance, and inner connection.

Alongside my yoga journey, I have 15 years of professional experience in the tourism industry, where I have worked in various roles dedicated to creating exceptional travel experiences. My background spans travel planning, hospitality, and retreat curation, allowing me to combine my expertise in wellness with my deep understanding of the travel industry. By merging these two passions, I design transformative retreat experiences that inspire growth, well-being, and a deeper connection to self through movement, mindfulness, and exploration.

Their presence allows participants to engage with the local community, gain new skills, and immerse themselves fully in the journey—making each retreat a truly transformative and enriching experience.

Guðrún Helga Svansdóttir, known as Tara, is a dedicated wellness expert with over 30 years of experience in alternative healing and holistic health. Her journey began in India in 1985, where she trained in yoga therapy and Ayurvedic healing methods, an experience that reshaped her life and led her to explore traditional healing practices worldwide.

After her studies in India, Guðrún deepened her skills by training in Shiatsu (a Japanese acupressure technique) understanding how these methods promote balance and relaxation. She returned to Iceland to study reflexology and subsequently built a private practice focusing on integrated wellness.

In 1994, Guðrún moved to New Mexico, where she earned her Doctor of Oriental Medicine (D.O.M.) degree, specializing in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. She also immersed herself in Watsu therapy, an innovative water-based healing technique. Watsu quickly became one of her core practices, combining the therapeutic qualities of warm water with the healing power of shiatsu massage.

Guðrún has since led wellness retreats in Iceland and beyond, focusing on yoga, Watsu healing, and holistic health education. Her extensive training includes certifications in Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and herbal medicine, alongside a profound understanding of pregnancy massage, stone massage, and energy balancing techniques.

Known for her compassionate approach, Guðrún designs her retreats to create a safe space for self-discovery and renewal. Her sessions incorporate breathing exercises, acupressure, gentle yoga stretches, and calming sound therapy, making her classes accessible and transformative for participants of all backgrounds.
